No server plugin is required — SlimLibrary works with a stock server installation. An optional plugin adds some extras.
Getting started
On first launch SlimLibrary looks for a server on your local network by itself. On iPhone and iPad, iOS will ask for permission to find devices on your local network — this is needed to locate the server, and the app cannot connect without it.
If no server is found automatically, open Server Settings from the screen that appears and enter the address yourself.
Connecting manually
In Server Settings, enter your server's address and ports, then choose Apply. The defaults match a standard Lyrion installation:
Host
The server's name or IP address on your network, for example 192.168.1.10.
Web port
9000 — serves the server's web interface and its JSON-RPC API.
Command line port
9090 — used to follow playback status as it changes.
SlimProto port
3483 — used when playing audio on this device itself.
If your server requires a username and password, enter those as well. Leave them empty if it does not.
The SlimLibrary plugin (optional)
SlimLibrary works with a stock server. An optional server-side plugin adds functions that Lyrion Music Server does not provide on its own:
Additional album images, beyond the single cover the server returns by itself.
Album text information held by your server.
Enhanced album queries, which the app uses when browsing your library.
To install it, open Settings → Plugins in your server's web interface and go to the Extension Downloader settings. Add this address to the list of additional repositories:
SlimLibrary then appears in the plugin list. Activate it, and restart the server if you are asked to. The plugin's source is on GitHub.
Troubleshooting
"No Server Found" when the server is running
Check that this device and the server are on the same network, and that the server's web interface loads in a browser at http://your-server:9000. On iPhone and iPad, confirm local network access is allowed under Settings → SlimLibrary → Local Network. Then try entering the address by hand in Server Settings.
It connected before and now cannot find the server
The server's IP address may have changed, which is common after a router restart. Enter the new address in Server Settings, or give the server a fixed address on your network.
Connecting from outside my home
SlimLibrary is designed for use on the same network as your server. Reaching a server across the internet needs a secure connection — a VPN back to your home network is the approach we would suggest, and it keeps your server credentials from travelling unencrypted.
Album artwork is missing
Artwork comes from your server, not from SlimLibrary. If it is missing in the server's own web interface, it will be missing here too.
No players listed, or audio will not start
Confirm the player appears in your server's web interface. SlimLibrary controls the same players the server knows about, and can also play on this device directly.
Privacy
SlimLibrary collects nothing about you. See the privacy policy for the detail.
